The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. Inscriptions include “ELIZABETH II” and “AUSTRALIA,” along with the coin’s denomination.
The Silver Koala’s reverse features new artwork with each annual release. The 2018 release features a seated koala on the branch of a eucalyptus tree surrounded by gum leaves. Inscriptions include “AUSTRALIAN KOALA” and the Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark, along with the coin’s weight, purity, and year of issue.
The 2018 1 oz Silver Koala will be produced with a limited mintage of 300,000. This is expected to garner strong collector interest for the coin. The 1 kilo version will have no mintage limit; production will close at the end of 2018 and the mint will declare the coin’s official mintage.
Each Silver Koala comes in a protective acrylic capsule and ships in new condition as received from the mint.

This coin is stunning. The craftsmanship by the Perth Mint is amazing. I have owed many Gold Roos before, but never a Koala. My only thing is this, the coin rattles in the capsule. I know this is not Provident Metal's fault as they do not make the coin. But I do wish the Perth Mint installed capsules on their coins so that the coins did not rattle. Other than that a flawless coin and transaction with Provident!"
