The Perth Mint is famous for strikingsilverand gold coins featuring the images of native species to the Australian continent. With each passing year, the Perth Mint discovers a new way to captivate investors and collectors with stunning imagery, such as the new Australian Silver Emu. Today, the 2018 1 oz Australian Silver Bird of Paradise has joined those ranks and is currently available to you from Provident Metals with NGC certification.
Discovered in 1848 by Scottish naturalist John Macgillivray, the Bird of Paradise is a native species found in New Guinea and the Australian state of Queensland. The species exists across both landmasses dating back to a period in Earths history when New Guinea and Australia were connected physically.
All of the 2018 1 oz Australian Silver Bird of Paradise Coins in this product listing are available with a near-perfect certification from the NGC. Coins with a Mint State 69 grade showcase full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. These flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and limited in scope to only those areas outside of the primary focal points of the design.
The Early Release label included denotes that each coin arrived at the NGC for certification within 30 days of its 2018 release date from the Perth Mint. Each coin is carefully packaged in a protective plastic slab by the NGC following certification to ensure the continued brilliant condition.
The obverse face of the 2018 Australian Silver Bird of Paradise Coins includes the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fourth-generation right-profile portrait of Her Majesty created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley for the Royal Mint of England.
On the reverse side of the 2018 1 oz Australian Silver Bird of Paradise Coin, youll find the image of Victoria’s riflebird. Macgillivray named the species after the reigning Queen Victoria I when he noticed it in the rainforests of Queensland, where the local Yidinji people referred to the bird as the duwuduwu.
