The Chinese Mint introduced the Chinese Panda Gold Coin in 1982 with a 1 oz gold, 1/2 oz gold, 1/4 oz gold, and 1/10 oz gold coin. The mint then immediately expanded in 1983 to include a 1/20 oz gold coin. The coins were issued as such through 2015, with the Chinese Mint switching over to Grams in 2016. The 1 oz coin became the 30 Gram gold coin, with the fractional-ounce coins changing to 15 Grams, 8 Grams, 3 Grams, and 1 Gram.

Obverse

The obverse features the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This design has featured on the reverse side of the 2018 Chinese Panda 30 Gram Gold Coins since 1982 when the series launched at the Chinese Mint. Reverse

History

The Chinese Mint uses new designs on the reverse of the Chinese Panda Gold Coin each year. The only exception came when the Chinese Mint announced in 2001 that it would no longer support new designs, resulting in the 2002 replicating the same 2001 design. An uproar from numismatists forced the Chinese Mint to reverse its position and return to fresh reverse coin designs in 2003 and continuing to this point.
