Obverse

Queen Elizabeth II features in right-profile relief on the obverse of 2018 Colorized Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Coins. Her Majesty has featured on Canadian coins since 1953. Her effigy has been updated three times since the original design, with portraits starting in 1990 created by Canadian artists and differing from the original designs borrowed from the Royal Mint of England. This particular effigy was created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt who was just the second Canadian artist to work on a portrait for the Royal Canadian Mint.

Reverse

A sugar maple leaf is depicted on the reverse side of all 2018 Colorized Canadian Maple Leaf Coins. The sugar maple is a staple of this series and has featured on the reverse since the 1979 debut of the Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin.
