The obverse side of the 2018 Proof Australian Kookaburra 1 oz Silver Coin features a bust of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara on her head, the most famous tiara of the Queen and one regularly featured in her currency portraits. This was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998 and these 2018 coins marked the last release of this portrait on Australian coins before the new Jody Clark design debuted in 2019. Inscriptions on this face of the coin include Elizabeth II, Australia, and 1 Dollar.

Reverse

On the reverse field of 2018 Proof Australian Kookaburra Silver Coins is a depiction of the kookaburra. In this design, the kookaburras wings are flapped behind it as it lands in its nest for the night. A harvest moon rises into the night sky in the background field as the kookaburra settles in for the night. The inscriptions on this face of the coin read Australian Kookaburra, 2018 1 oz 9999 Silver, and the P mint mark of the Perth Mint.

History
