Each year that the Perth Mint releases the Australian Kookaburra Silver Coins, you have the opportunity to purchase the BU version of the coin for investment purposes or the proof coins to build on your collection of Australian silver. The Australian Kookaburra is commonly available with a high-relief proof each year, delivering enhanced visual brilliance beyond a standard proof. Provident Metals currently has 2018 Proof Australian Kookaburra 1 oz Silver Coins available to you for purchase online.
When you purchase these 2018 Proof Australian Kookaburra 1 oz Silver Coins from Provident Metals, you receive the coins with the original packaging from the Perth Mint. Each coin is set within its own Perth Mint black clamshell display box and comes with an Australian Kookaburra-themed shipper. The coins have a high-relief strike that creates enhanced visual depth with greater 3D relief on the design strike.
The obverse side of the 2018 Proof Australian Kookaburra 1 oz Silver Coin features a bust of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara on her head, the most famous tiara of the Queen and one regularly featured in her currency portraits. This was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998 and these 2018 coins marked the last release of this portrait on Australian coins before the new Jody Clark design debuted in 2019. Inscriptions on this face of the coin include Elizabeth II, Australia, and 1 Dollar.
On the reverse field of 2018 Proof Australian Kookaburra Silver Coins is a depiction of the kookaburra. In this design, the kookaburras wings are flapped behind it as it lands in its nest for the night. A harvest moon rises into the night sky in the background field as the kookaburra settles in for the night. The inscriptions on this face of the coin read Australian Kookaburra, 2018 1 oz 9999 Silver, and the P mint mark of the Perth Mint.
Australian Kookaburra Silver Coins debuted in 1990. The coins are popular for the use of new reverse design elements each year and the Perth Mint has never repeated a design in the collection.
