The Pawnee people were known as one of the most powerful tribes in the areas that they were found in, which includes Nebraska and Kansas. Their numbers once exceeded 10,000 people, which made them a force to be reckoned with.

Reverse

The reverse design of the 2018 Proof Kansas Pawnee Pronghorn 1 oz Silver Coin features the pronghorn settled down in a thicket of grass. Quite often the pronghorn is referred to as an antelope, but they are actually much more closely related to the okapi and the giraffe than to the various species of antelope. Also featured on the reverse of the coin are the words Kansas, Pronghorn, Jamul Sovereign Mint and America.
