Your purchase of 2018 Reverse Proof Canadian Incuse Maple Leaf 3 oz Silver Coins includes a PF69 certification from the NGC. Coins in this condition are considered near-perfect and feature full, original mint luster with no more than two minor detracting flaws present. Those flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and must be located outside the primary focal points. The included First Release designation is used by the NGC to denote the coins arrived for certification within the first 30 days of the original release.

Obverse

2018 Reverse Proof Canadian Incuse Maple Leaf Silver Coins bear the fourth-generation Royal Canadian Mint portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt, it is the first depiction of a monarch on Canadian coins without a crown or tiara since the reign of King George VI, father to Queen Elizabeth II.

Reverse

For the reverse, 2018 Reverse Proof Canadian Incuse Maple Leaf coins feature the iconic maple leaf design from Walter Ott. Designed in 1979, this image of the sugar maple leaf has featured on the gold, silver, platinum, and palladium bullion coins.

History

Canadian Maple Leaf Silver Coins debuted from the RCM in 1988, making the 2018 date the 30th anniversary. These coins are unique in that the mint struck the designs in incuse. This means the designs are stamped into the surface of the coin with sunken fields, rather than engraved onto the surface of the coin to create 3D elements. The reverse proof visual lends deeply-mirrored, clear finishes to the design elements and frosted background fields.
