Obverse
On the obverse of all 2018 Reverse Proof Canadian Wolverine 1/4 oz Gold Coins is the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. She has been featured on all Canadian coinage since 1952, and the RCM now uses the fourth-generation portrait of the Queen created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt.
Reverse
With this release, the RCM is focusing on one of the most ferocious small animals in the world: the wolverine. These weasels are larger and stockier than the other members of the weasel family. On the reverse of each of these coins, you will see a wolverine watching its prey. The design was created by Canadian artist Denis Mayer Jr., who is also responsible for the other reverse designs in this series.
History
