The giraffe is found natively on the African continent and exists outside of Africa exclusively in zoos and parks around the world. The Rwandan African Wildlife Series made its debut in 2008 and has featured a new wild animal on the obverse of the coin every year. The design is only minted through the end of the calendar year of issue. This ensures low mintage figures and collectible demand.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2018 Rwandan Giraffe 1 oz Silver Coin features the image of a mother giraffe with her calf. The African savannah is shown stretching out into the background behind them. Each of the coins in this series has a common feature, being the outline of the African continent dominating most of the design field. Engravings on the obverse of the coin include African, ounce, and also the year of issue, weight, metal content, and purity of the coin.

Reverse

The reverse design of the 2018 Rwandan Giraffe 1 oz Silver Coin features the Rwandan national seal. This seal is displayed in the middle of the design field. Also included are the name of the issuing bank and the face value of the coin. Engravings are in the native tongue of Rwanda.

Your 2018 Rwandan Giraffe 1 oz Silver Coin is in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition. Coins that are in this condition have no signs of wear and tear. They are not considered to be perfect specimens, however. BU coins can have minor flaws that range from breaks in the luster and spotted surfaces to contact marks from the striking of blanks.
