Obverse

The obverse of each 2018 Rwandan Lunar Dog 1 oz Silver Coin features the stylized Year of the Dog design. Unlike other Year of the Dog releases, this design doesnt depict any particular breed of dog. Instead, the design is focused on being attractive and unique. In the background field, you will see a shattered glass look. You will also see the character for dog in Chinese.

Reverse

On the reverse side of every coin, you will see the national seal of Rwanda. In addition to the seal, the national motto and the name of the issuing bank can be seen. The engravings are done in a local Rwandan dialect.

History

The Year of the Dog occurs every twelve years. People born in 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, and 2018 would all be born in the Year of the Dog. In this series, there are both bullion and proof versions with the Year of the Dog design.
