The medallion’s obverse features a tiger growling in defense with exposed fangs. You can see the intricate details of the tiger’s fur and whiskers. Inscriptions include “KOREAN TIGER,” along with the weight and year of issue.
The reverse shows an artistic interpretation of the Korean map, assembled from letters of the Korean alphabet stacked at different angles. To the left, you’ll find the national symbol that appears on South Korea’s flag, while an anti-counterfeiting device is seen on the right. Inscriptions include “REPUBLIC OF KOREA” and “FINE GOLD 999,” situated within a border of tiger stripes.
