Highlights:
These 2018 South Korean Chiwoo Cheonwang 1/10 oz Gold Medals are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition from KOMSCO. The gold medals in this listing ship with a protective plastic assay card that is red and features stencil artwork on both sides depicting Do ggae bi. The card includes an assayers mark and the weight, purity, and metal content of the individual round.
Obverse
Do ggae bi is depicted here as he appeared on the battle shield that Chiwoo Cheonwang carried into battle. The hobgoblin creature was said to possess the ability to scare off evil spirits with its grotesque appearance. Korean people would hang his effigy from the edge roofing tiles of their homes to keep the home free of evil, while Chiwoo adopted the image on his shield in battle to strike fear in the hearts of his enemies.
Reverse
Chiwoo Cheonwang is depicted in the third different design on the reverse of 2018 South Korean Chiwoo Cheonwang 1/10 oz Gold Medal. In this relief, he rides into battle on his horse ready to slay all of his enemies. Here, Chiwoo lowers his sword to cut down any enemy that pops up in his way as he rides through the battlefield.
History
Chiwoo Cheonwang is remembered as the God of War in Korean culture and is believed to have been able to control the elements during battle and summon dense fogs. In real life, Chiwoo was a leader of one of Chinas three founding tribes and is rumored to have gone undefeated in battle over the course of a decade.
