This powerful coin was authorized for production upon the signing of Public Law 114-148 on April 29th, 2016. The program included the $5 gold piece as well as a silver dollar and a clad half-dollar. When the coins were released in 2018, the US Mint included a surcharge for each purchase, with the proceeds going towards the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
