This imagery was created exclusively for this series in 1986 by Miley Busiek. The design depicts a male eagle in flight above the nest as a female eagle shelters a young hatchling inside of the nest.

History

Proof American Eagle Gold Coins were introduced over the course of three years between 1986 and 1988. The 1 oz gold coin debuted first in 1986 with the launch of the series. These Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins debuted in 1987, followed by the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz gold coins in 1988.
