History

The release of this new Liberty image was part of the 225th-anniversary celebration of the US Mints founding. Formed in 1792, the US Mint initially had just one branch facility, the Philadelphia Mint. Over the course of its history, three national branch mints and one international branch mint have opened and closed, with a total of four mints now operational: Philadelphia, San Francisco, West Point, and Denver.
