Obverse
The obverse side of 2018-W Proof American Liberty 1/10 oz Gold Coins includes a depiction of Lady Liberty. This left-profile bust of Liberty features a female personification of the United States of America as an African-American woman. This marks the first time in American history that Liberty has featured on an American coin as anyone other than a person of European-American descent. The design is accompanied by inscriptions of Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2018.
Reverse
On the reverse face of the 2018 Proof American Liberty Gold Coins, you will find the image of the American bald eagle in flight. The depiction shows the eagle with its talons held up beneath its frame with its wings flapped down as it glides through the air. This field of the coin has inscriptions of United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, 10 Dollars, and 1/10 oz. .9999 Fine Gold.
History
The issue of the American Liberty Gold Coins was part of the celebration of the 225th Anniversary of the United States Mints founding 1792. The 2017 release of the design was matched in 2018 with this 1/10 oz gold release.
