The obverse features an astronaut’s footprint, an iconic symbol of the first “small step for man”, on the rocky surface of the moon. MERCURY, GEMINI, and APOLLO, separated by phases of the Moon, are inscribed along the top. 2019, IN GOD WE TRUST, and LIBERTY are also inscribed.
This reverse pays tribute to the famous “Buzz Aldrin on the Moon” photograph taken July 20, 1969 which depicts astronaut Neil Armstrong, the United States flag, and the lunar lander reflected in astronaut Buzz Aldrin’s helmet. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
