Obverse

This seal includes a quartered shield with a secondary shield at its center with an image of Noahs ark resting on Mount Ararat. The shield is supported to the left by an eagle and to the right by a lion. A dove flies through the foreground with an olive branch in its beak, a symbol to Noah that the floodwaters are finally beginning to recede. The ark will eventually come to rest on the side of Mount Ararat once the waters have receded even further.

History

The 5 oz silver coin in the Armenian Noahs Ark Series was introduced in 2012, one year after the program debuted in 2011. The series launched with more traditional weights of 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1 oz silver before expanding to include 5 oz, 10 oz, 1 Kilo, and 5 Kilo weights. The total mintage of 2019 Armenian Noahs Ark 5 oz Silver coins has not been declared final, but this particular weight has never exceeded 4,535 coins in any one year.
