In Chinese mythology, the dragon and phoenix are two highly respected symbols often seen together. The dragon, a long, serpentine figure with four legs, stands for masculinity, strength, and imperial power. Right now, 2019 Australian Dragon and Phoenix 10 oz Silver Coins are available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2019 Australian Dragon and Phoenix 10 oz Silver Coin is enclosed in a protective plastic capsule. The Perth Mint struck only 888 of these coins, reflecting the lucky significance of the number eight in Chinese tradition.
Obverse
The obverse of 2019 Australian Dragon and Phoenix Silver Coins features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile relief. Designed by Jody Clark in 2015 for The Royal Mint, this image shows Her Majesty at 89 years old wearing the George IV State Diadem. This is the sixth portrait of Elizabeth II used on Australian coins. The inscriptions read ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 10 OZ 9999 AG, 2019, and 10 DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2019 Dragon and Phoenix 10 oz Silver Coin showcases the dragon and phoenix circling each other with a flaming pearl at the center. The dragon stands for strength and good fortune, while the phoenix, known as Fenghuang, symbolizes grace and virtue. The lone inscription is that of the P mint mark of the Perth Mint.
History
The dragon and phoenix together symbolize the balance between yin and yang and represent an ideal union between husband and wife. They are often featured in traditional Chinese art and architecture, embodying harmony and prosperity.
