Reverse

A family of pigs is shown in the reverse design element of the 2019 British Lunar Year of the Pig 1 oz Gold Coin. The sow lies on her side as a group of five young piglets nursing from the sow. In the background field, you will notice a quaint countryside cottage with smoke rising from the chimney as the sliver Moon and stars rise into the sky overhead. Inscriptions on this face include Year of the Pig, 2019, 1 oz Fine Gold 999.9, and the Chinese symbol for a pig.

History

The designs throughout most of the Shengxiao Series were created by Wuon-Gean Ho, a Chinese-British artist. Her works featured on all of the early releases in the series.
