The Gold Britannia Coins are some of the most popular coins to come out of Europe. In fact, these coins have been known around the world for more than three centuries. While Britannia first started appearing on British coinage in the 18th century, by the 19th century, the coins had also reached British colonies in the Far East. Today, you can order the 2019 British Oriental Border Britannia 1 oz Gold Coin in Brilliant Uncirculated Condition (BU) from Provident Metals.

Each of the coins in this listing are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. To prevent damage, these coins are shipped to your home in protective plastic capsules.

On the obverse of each coin is the image of Queen Elizabeth II. In this right-profile effigy, you can see the Queen in her fifth-generation portrait for Royal Mint coinage. Jody Clark created this image in 2015.

The reverse face of each 2019 British Oriental Border Britannia 1 oz Gold Coin features the traditional Britannia design with a new oriental border created by Philip Nathan in 1987. The oriental border design is a nod to the colonial history of Great Britain in the Far East. The design was inspired by the British Trade Dollar, which was issued by Royal Mint facilities in India and the Far East in the 19th century.

These coins are created by the Royal Mint to honor the history the mint has in the Far East. The coins that inspired these were created in the 19th century. After the Opium Wars in China, ports in the region were forced open by the United Kingdom. At the time, they didnt want British colonial currency in Chinese ports, so British Trade Dollars were used instead.
