The Queens Beast coins are some of the most treasured to ever come out of the Royal Mint. The series began in 2016 and has captured the hearts of both collectors and investors. Right now, you can order the 2019 British Queens Beast Yale 1/4 oz Gold Coins in MS69 condition from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Coins ship in a protective plastic slab for the NGC!
  • 7th coin release in the Queens Beast Series from the Royal Mint!
  • Only a limited number of these coins have been certified.
  • Each coin contains 1/4 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold.
  • Issued a face value of 25 (GBP) backed by the British government.
  • Given a grade of Mint State 69 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • Obverse bears the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • The reverse image is that of Lady Margaret Beauforts Yale of Beaufort.
  • All designs created by Jody Clark.

The coins in this listing have all received grades of MS69 from the NGC. An MS69 grade means that these coins are in near-perfect condition. It means that all of these coins must have their full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws, including minuscule contact marks or hairlines.

Obverse

The obverse face of these coins, and all other Queens Beast coins, features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as designed by Jody Clark. This image of Her Majesty is the fifth to be featured on bullion coins in the United Kingdom. In the image, the Queen is 89 years old and in right-profile relief. This effigy made Clark the youngest engraver to ever design the likeness of the Queen for coins at just 33.

Reverse

On the reverse side of each coin, the mythical Yale, part goat or antelope with the tusks of a boar, can be seen with the shield of Lady Margaret Beaufort, the moth of King Henry VII. The shield contains a crown and a portcullis badge.

History

The Yale of Beaufort is the heraldic beast brought into the royal family by King Henry VII, the founder of the Tudor dynasty. This beast has ties back to his mother, Lady Margaret Beaufort.

The portcullis badge on these coins bridges the Tudor family to Queen Elizabeth II. It is now part of the arms of the Westminster City Council, which is home to Westminster Abbey, which is where the Queen was crowned in 1953.
