The Queens Beast Series pays tribute to each of the mythical and heraldic beasts that have had a role in the Royal family through the centuries. The 2019 British Queen’s Beast Yale of Beaufort 2 oz Silver Coin depicts the mythical beast known as the Yale. The Queens Beast Series of coins was first only offered in a 2oz silver coin. In 2017, the series was expanded to feature 10 oz silver coins. The Yale of Beaufort design is offered in the 2 oz and the 10 oz, and it features the seal of Lady Margaret Beaufort, sole heir to the Duke of Somerset and the mother of King Henry VII.

As the sole heir to the Duke of Somerset, John Beaufort, Lady Margaret Beaufort carried on the image of the Yale as a heraldic beast from her familys history. She would ultimately pass it forward to her son, Henry, who was born of her second marriage. Henry would later defeat King Richard II and take the throne as King Henry VII. He was the founder of the House of Tudor and was the first monarch in the infamous Tudor Dynasty.

Lady Margaret was an influential woman in her time, and was known for her part in establishing Christs College and St. Johns College.

Obverse

The obverse design of the 2019 British Queen’s Beast Yale of Beaufort 2 oz Silver Coin features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The longest-reigning monarch of Britain, Queen Elizabeth II is depicted in right-profile relief, in a design that was brought to life by Jody Clark in 2015 for the Royal Mint of England.

Reverse

The reverse design of the 2019 British Queen’s Beast Yale of Beaufort 2 oz Silver Coin features the image of the Yale. This mythical beast is depicted as a goat or antelope-like animal, with boar tusks on its snout and long, twisted horns. The beast is shown supporting the quartered shield of Lady Margaret, which originally had fields of white and blue.

Your 2019 British Queen’s Beast Yale of Beaufort 2 oz Silver Coin is offered in Mint State 70 condition, which means that your MS70 certified coin has its full and original mint luster, with no detracting flaws at all.
