The inclusion of colorized lacquers does nothing to detract from the silver content and purity of the coin. It only serves to change the visual distinction of the coin.
Obverse
The obverse side of the 2019 Colorized American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin comes with the famous Walking Liberty design. Created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, it features Liberty in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon. She holds out her right hand toward the sun as her left hand carries the branches of oak and laurel. The American flag is draped over her shoulders.
On this side of the coin, you will find the colorized lacquer added to alter the visual appeal of the coin. Libertys dress offers warm autumn-inspired colors of gold and maroon, with the American flag boasting brilliant red-white-and-blue colorization. The land on which she walks is a rich green color while the sun is a vibrant yellow.
Reverse
On the reverse of 2019 Colorized American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins, you will find the heraldic eagle of the United States. Modernized for this series in 1986 by John Mercanti, the image includes a powerful bald eagle with the national shield, arrows of war, and an olive branch of peace.
History
The Walking Liberty design on the obverse of these coins was created by Weinman in 1916 during a US Mint and Treasury Department artistic contest to replace the designs of the Barber coinage. It features on the half dollar from 1916 to 1947.
