Each year sees the debut of a new design for the reverse side of the Somalia Silver African Wildlife Leopard Coins. The very first released design featured a lone leopard, standing in the savannah, turning to look behind him. This 2019 design features a mother leopard and her young cub playfully batting at her face.

Obverse Design

The obverse of the 2019 Somalia African Wildlife Leopard 1 oz Silver coin features the Somalian coat of arms. The coat of arms features a single star in the center of the shield, with a crown enhancing the overall shield shape. The coat of arms includes two standing leopards supporting it on either side.

Reverse Design

The reverse of the 2019 Somalia African Wildlife Leopard 1 oz Silver Coin features the 2019 design release. Pictured is a mother leopard and her young cub enjoying time together as the sun emerges from behind clouds in the background. The young cub playfully swats at the mothers face, while the mother leopard looks serenely down. The leopards are features in a gilded layer, adding a striking contrast to this coin.

History

Leopards are beautiful animals, most often found in the southernmost parts of Africa. They are considered to be extinct across North Africa. It is through awareness programs and detailed coins like these that conservation efforts can be stepped up for these amazing wild cats.
