The 2019 Proof Arkansas Caddo Fox 1 oz Silver Coin is the 30th design released in the Native American Mints Proof Silver Dollar Series. Each of the designs released in this collection represents an indigenous tribal nation, the state that tribe was known to once call home, and also an animal that is common to that region. This coin represents the state of Arkansas and the Caddo tribe. The fox is featured as the animal that is common to the area where the tribe once lived. Each of the coins in the series contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver and have been issued a face value of $1. The coins are backed by the issuing tribal nation, but have no legal tender status in the United States.
Highlights:
Your 2019 Proof Arkansas Caddo Fox 1 oz Silver Coin will be delivered secured inside of a protective plastic capsule. The coins in this series are proof specimens. Proof coins feature deeply-mirrored background fields and frosted designs.
The Caddo tribe historically inhabited a large part of what is today known as Louisiana, East Texas and southern Arkansas. In 1859, much like many tribes from around the country, the Caddo people were forced to relocate to the designated Indian Territory, which is today known as Oklahoma.
Obverse
The obverse design of the 2019 Proof Arkansas Caddo Fox 1 oz Silver Coin features the portrait of a member of the Caddo Nation tribe. The Caddo tribe, historically speaking, once occupied parts of Louisiana, Texas and southern Arkansas. The tribe was relocated to Oklahoma, by the United States government. Today, there are about 6,000 enrolled members of the Caddo Nation.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2019 Proof Arkansas Caddo Fox 1 oz Silver Coin features the image of a fox. The fox is a small to medium-sized member of the Canidae family. Some of its closest relatives include jackals, coyotes, wolves and even the domestic dog. There are 12 species of fox today that can be considered to be a part of the Canidae family. The fox has long been hunted for its pelt.
The Native American Mint issues the coins in this collection, on behalf of the federally recognized indigenous tribes in the United States. The coins cannot be considered legal tender, because the United States federal law prohibits any entity from striking legal tender currency outside of the United States Mint.
