This portrait is inspired by artist Jody Clarks fifth-generation image that was designed for the Royal Mint of England. What sets this portrait apart from many others is that this one features the neckline and shoulders of Her Majesty. This is a design feature not printed on coins minted in Australia since 1966.

Reverse Design

The reverse design of the 2019 Proof Australian Silver Emu 1 oz Silver Coin features two standing emus. The emus are depicted standing next to a dried-up creek bed, in the Outback. Emus are unique birds for a number of characteristics, including the fact that it is not the female of the species that raises the hatchlings. The females lay the eggs, but the males of the species incubate the eggs until they hatch about eight weeks later. Emus are generally loners, but the young do often stay with their little family unit until they are old enough to pair up with a mate themselves.
