The horse breed known simply as the Canadian Horse is a strong, muscular breed of horse that is typically dark in color and was brought to Canada in the 1600s. It is descended from two different breeds of horse: a draft horse and a light riding horse. Over the course of the next 300 years, three different subspecies of the Canadian Horse emerged with specific abilities in mind that include powerful draft horses, trotting horses, and pacing horses.
