The obverse face of 2019 Somalia Elephant 1/2 Gram Gold Coins features the image of the coat of arms for the Somali Republic. The national emblem features a crowned shield with a single star at the center and a background field of horizontal lines. The shield is supported on either side by a leopard with fern leaves and spears crossed below. Inscriptions on this face of the coin include Somali Republic above the shield, the date mark of 2019 split two digits each on either side of the shield, and 20 Shillings below the shield.

Reverse

On the reverse side of the 2019 Somalia Elephant 1/2 Gram Gold Coin is a depiction of the African bush elephant standing near a body of water that extends off into the distance. The bush elephant is putting on a display of power with its trunk raised and its ears fluffed out to the side. History

Somalia Elephant Gold Coins debuted in 2004 and had previously been available as the Zambia Elephant Gold Coin. For most of its history, the Somalia Elephant Gold Coin was primarily available as a 1 oz gold coin. Over the course of time, accelerating after 2016, the series grew to include a wide range of fractional-ounce coins that include a 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/20 oz, and 1/50 oz gold coin. These 1/2 Gram coins are the smallest overall in the series.
