The Gold Krugerrand coins first debuted in 1967, but it wasnt until 2017 that the mint decided to start producing Silver Krugerrand coins as well. Issued by the South African Mint, now there are numerous options available to investors and collectors. Right now, you can purchase the 2019 Gilded South African Krugerrand 1 oz Silver Coin from Provident Metals in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition.

  • Ships in protective packaging!
  • Availability is limited!
  • Stunning gilded version of the new Silver Krugerrand coin!
  • Each coin contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
  • Coins available in BU condition.
  • Given a face value of 1 Rand (R1) that is fully backed by the South African government.
  • Obverse features the effigy of Paul Kruger.
  • Reverse showcases the image of a Springbok antelope.
  • Reverse side features a thin layer of 24-karat gold over the design field.

These coins are all available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. They arrive in protective packaging to protect the gold and silver. While these coins are gilded, the small amount of gold isnt enough to alter the value of the coins.

On the obverse side of the coins, you will find the image of Paul Kruger. He is depicted in left-profile relief. As the former President of the South African Republic, he was chosen to represent the country on these beautiful coins. Unlike the design on the reverse of the coin, Krugers image has not been gilded with gold.

The reverse face of these coins features the image of the Springbok antelope in right-profile relief. The antelope is shown leaping across the plains of South Africa. The antelope and the ground are covered in a thin layer of gold, which creates visual contrast.

When Krugerrands were originally released in 1967, only gold coins were available. The silver version of these coins was first introduced in 2017 to mark the 50th anniversary of the gold coins release. The initial release coins were called Premium Uncirculated coins and a mintage cap was set pretty low. All of the original coins were marked with commemorative dates. Since the coins were so popular, the South African Mint made the coins a regular issue and created brilliant uncirculated versions for future releases.
