The South Korean Tiger bullion medal series is available from KOMSCO each year in gold and silver. The gold medals debuted in 2016 with 1 oz weights available and now feature three fractional-ounce, the 1/10 oz medal being the most popular. In 2018, the series expanded to feature 10 oz and then 1 oz silver medals. Provident Metals now offers you the 2019 South Korean Tiger 1/10 oz Gold Medal with an assay card.
2019 South Korean Tiger 1/10 oz Gold Medals are available to purchase in this product listing in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The medals ship with a sealed assay card package that includes the weight, purity, and metal content of the medals. Each assay card also has a serial number printed on it.
On the obverse of 2019 South Korean Tiger 1/10 oz Gold Medals is a depiction of the Korean tiger. Better known as the Siberian tiger species, the last Korean tiger in the wild died in 1921 when it was killed by hunters. The tiger on this design field growls ferociously and uses one of its paws to rip gashes down the vertical length of the design element.
The reverse side of 2019 South Korean Tiger Gold Medals features an image of the Korean peninsula. In this design, the letters of the Hangul are used to form the shape of the Korean peninsula. Hangul is the Korean alphabet and is not the only uniquely Korean element in the design of these 2019 South Korean Tiger Gold Medals. To the left of the peninsula is the taeguk, the official national emblem of South Korea as featured on the national flag.
Korean tigers are, in reality, the Siberian tiger species. The animals are the largest predatory cats in the world, but the Siberian is no longer found on the Korean peninsula. The last remaining members of the species on the Korean peninsula were killed by hunters and military forces in the early 20th century when Imperial Japan invaded and colonized the Korean peninsula.
Your 2019 South Korean Tiger 1/10 oz Gold Medal comes with a blue assay label. KOMSCO split the 2019 South Korean Tiger 1/10 oz Gold Medal mintage of 3,000 across red and blue assay labels, with just 1,500 medals available with this blue label.
