Obverse

On the obverse of the American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin is Walking Liberty. Designed by Adolph A. Weinman in 1916, it originally featured on the US Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947. The obverse of the Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Coin includes the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II developed in 2003 by Susanna Blunt. The first portrait of Her Majestys reign to depict the Queen without a crown, it is the second on Canadian denominations created by a Canadian artist.

Reverse

The reverse side of the American Eagle Silver Coin includes a depiction of the heraldic eagle of the United States. Former Chief Engraver John Mercanti modified the historic emblem for this series in 1986. On the reverse of the Canadian Maple Leaf Silver Coin is an image of the sugar maple leaf. It was designed in 1979 by Walter Ott for the debut of the Canadian Maple Leaf Gold coin.

History

The Pride of Two Nations 2-Coin Silver Set had a total original mintage of 110,000 sets. Of those, 100,000 sets were sold by the United States Mint and the remaining 10,000 sets by the Royal Canadian Mint.
