Augustus Saint-Gaudens developed the image of Lady Liberty on the obverse of 2019-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins. He created this design in 1907 and submitted it to the US Mint for consideration on one of four different gold coins of the era as well as the US penny. It was chosen for the $20 Gold Double Eagle and depicts Liberty in front-facing relief with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other.

Reverse

Miley Busiek developed this exclusive design for the reverse of 2019-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins. Designed in 1986, it captures the image of a family of American bald eagles near the nest. The male eagle flies over the nest as the female watches over a hatchling within the nest.

History

Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins were the first options introduced in the series in 1986 and the only weight available that year. Like the other collectible coins in this series, the Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold coin was not issued in 2009.

Ordering

These 2019-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins earned PF70 certifications. Considered perfect specimens, each one has full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws. The included UCAM label stands for ultra-cameo and means the coins have strong, frosted design elements and deeply-mirrored, clear background fields. The Early Release label indicates the coins were received for grading by the NGC within the original 30-day period following release by the US Mint.
