Obverse

Walking Liberty was designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and features on the obverse of the 2019-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin. The design featured on the obverse of the Walking Liberty Half Dollar circulation coin from 1916 to 1947. Weinman created the image of Liberty showing her walking toward the sun on the horizon with the right hand outstretched, her left hand carrying the branches of oak and laurel, and the American flag draped over her shoulders.

Reverse

The heraldic eagle of the United States is depicted on the reverse of 2019 Proof American Eagle Silver Coins. This design was first created in 1792 by Robert Scot and has featured on American coinage for more than two centuries with various redesigns for the sake of modernization. John Mercanti created this version of the national emblem in 1986 for this series.

History

Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins debuted in 1986. The coin is only available in 1 oz silver and is offered each year by the US Mint. The one exception is the 2009 issue that did not include a proof as all silver blanks were redirected to the bullion version of the series.
