Obverse
The obverse face of 2020 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins bears a depiction of Lady Liberty from Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Used by the US Mint on the $20 Gold Double Eagle from 1907 to 1933, the Liberty image depicts her front-facing full figure as she walks away from Washington D.C. with the US Capitol Building at her feet, a torch in her right hand, and an olive branch in her left.
Reverse
On the reverse of 2020 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins, you will find a family of American bald eagles. The image includes three eagles in all with a male flying over the nest that holds a female eagle and young hatchling. The design was created specifically for this series by Miley Busiek in 1986.

American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins have had the lowest mintage figures in the series since 2008. In recent years, the 1/2 oz Gold Coin in this series has had a mintage of less than half of its next closest weight. The 2019 version sold just 32,000 compared to 62,000 for the 1/4 oz, 191,000 for the 1 oz, and 230,000 for the 1/10 oz coins.
