American Eagle bullion coins from the US Mint are available each year in four different metals as of 2017. The American Eagle Silver and American Eagle Gold bullion coins are the longest-running, having debuted in 1986. The third coin issued was the American Eagle Platinum Coin that was released in 1997. Provident Metals now offers you the chance to purchase the 2020 American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coin.

  • Arrives with a protective flip, a mint tube of 20, or a Monster Box of 100 coins!
  • 18th issue year for American Eagle 1 oz Platinum bullion coins!

Obverse

On the obverse of 2020 American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coin is a depiction of the face of the Statue of Liberty. This design has featured on the obverse of the coins since 1997 and was designed by John Mercanti. Mr. Mercanti had been at the Philadelphia Mint as an artist-engraver since the 1970s and would go on to serve as the 12th Chief Engraver of the United States Mint from 2006 to 2010.

Reverse

The reverse of 2020 American Eagle Platinum Coins features the same reverse design each year. created by US Mint engraver-artist Thomas D. Rogers, this design of the American bald eagle depicts it in flight over the nation as the sun rises on a new day. This is the only design in the American Eagle Platinum series to feature on both the bullion and proof versions of the coin, featuring on the latter in 1997 and 2017.

History

American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coins were available from the US Mint from 1997 to 2008, but the program was suspended from 2009 to 2013 as demand for platinum waned. The coin was reintroduced in 2014, but only for one year. Since 2016, it has been reestablished as an annual-issue coin.
