The American Eagle is arguably the worlds most popular silver coin. The 1 oz silver specimens set numerous sales records in the late 2000s and the early 2010s, with the intense demand culminating in the sale of 47 million American Eagle Silver Coins in 2015 alone. In addition to buying the bullion coins in bulk, you have the option of purchasing certified versions of the coin that have been graded for condition and brilliance. Provident Metals currently offers the 2020 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin to you in near-perfect condition.
Highlights:
American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins are available each year from the US Mint in bullion, proof, and burnished options. While the latter two versions are collectible coins with distinctive visual finishes, the bullion coin is ideal for investors. The coins are eligible for use in Precious Metals IRAs, but there can also be a collectible side to these coins as well when the condition and visual brilliance are certified.
Obverse
For the obverse, 2020 American Eagle Silver Coins feature Walking Liberty. Designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this depiction of Liberty was used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947 when it was eventually replaced by the Franklin Half Dollar design.
Reverse
2020 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins bear the heraldic eagle of the United States on the reverse field. This iconic emblem of the nation was originally designed by Robert Scot in 1794. It has been modified countless times in American history. This most recent modernization was completed by John Mercanti for the American Eagle Silver Coins in 1986.
History
American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins debuted in bullion in 1986, in proof in 1986, and in burnished in 2006. The bullion version of the coin is the only one of the three to be struck every year since. The intense demand for investment-grade silver during the Great Recession resulted in the US Mint redirecting available silver blanks to bullion coining efforts. As such, the proof was not issued in 2009 and the burnished was not issued in 2009 or 2010.
Ordering
These 2020 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins have Mint State 69 grades from the NGC. Coins in this condition have full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Such flaws are limited to minuscule contact marks or hairlines. The Early Release label means the coins were received for grading within the first 30 days of issue by the US Mint.
