Obverse
Armenias coat of arms is found on the obverse side of the 2020 Armenian Noahs Ark 1/2 oz Gold Coins. The symbol was adopted by the nation in April 1992 following the dissolution of former Soviet Republics and the establishment of the modern Republic of Armenia. The quartered shield has lions in two of the quadrants and eagles in the other two quadrants. At the center is a seal with the image of Noahs ark on Mount Ararat. The shield is supported by an eagle on one side and a lion on the other. Inscriptions on this face of the coin include the LEV rhombus of Geiger Edelmetalle, the weight, purity, metal content, face value, and the nation of issue as Republic of Armenia in both English and Armenian.
Reverse
Noahs ark is depicted at the center of the reverse design on the 2020 Armenian Noahs Ark Gold Coin. The image showcases the ark on the floodwaters on one of the first days after the rains have stopped. The sun begins to rise over Mount Ararat in the distant background as a dove flies into the design element in the foreground with an olive branch in its beak. Noahs Ark is inscribed on this side twice: once in English and once in Armenian.
History
2020 is the first year of issue for the new Armenian Noahs Ark Gold Coins. The series offers 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1 Gram Gold Coins. The coins have mintage caps of 5,000 coins each.
