Each 2020 Australian Australia Zoo Sumatran Tiger 1 oz Silver Coin available here is part of a limited mintage of 25,000 coins. This coin is the first release in the new Australia Zoo Series and is delivered in a plastic capsule for protection.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2020 Australian Australia Zoo Sumatran Tiger Silver Coin features Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile relief. This portrait, designed by Jody Clark in 2015, shows the Queen at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. This was the final effigy of Her Late Majesty used on Australian coinage. Inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 2020, and 1 DOLLAR.
Reverse
On the reverse of 2020 Australia Zoo Sumatran Tiger 1 oz Silver Coins, the Sumatran tiger is shown in its natural habitat. Sumatran tigers are solitary and territorial creatures, known for their excellent swimming abilities. They can swim long distances in rivers and marine environments. This design depicts a Sumatran Tiger moving through shallow waters. The inscriptions include AUSTRALIA ZOO, SUMATRAN TIGER, and 1 OZ .999 AG.
History
The Sumatran tiger is a critically endangered species, with only an estimated 400-600 individuals left in the wild. Their populations have declined significantly over the past century due to habitat loss from deforestation, poaching for their body parts used in traditional Asian medicine, and human-wildlife conflict. Conservation efforts, including anti-poaching patrols and habitat protection, are underway to prevent their extinction.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies.
