History

Stuart Devlin originally created this reverse coin design back in 1964. As Australian moved to decimalize its currency as it sought to drop the Pound sterling of the Royal Mint as its currency, Stuart Devlin submitted this design for consideration on new coins from the Royal Australian Mint, which opened in 1965.
