This effigy is the sixth-generation portrait of the Queen to feature on Australian coins and was created in 2015 by Jody Clark for the Royal Mint of England. Reverse

This side of the coin also features a second P mintmark, but this one is microscopic and only visible under magnification as a security mark.

History

The Next Generation Series from the Perth Mint comes with piedfort blanks. Based on an old French term for heavyweight, piedfort refers to a coin with a standard diameter for its weight but a much greater thickness. Next Generation Series silver coins are available in 2 oz silver and 10 oz silver with radial sunburst lines in the background field on both sides of the coin.
