Today, you can buy the 2020 British Queens Beast White Horse 1 oz Gold Coin online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
King George I ascended to the throne of England in 1714 following the death of Queen Anne. Under the Act of Settlement in 1707, the English and Irish crown could only pass to a Protestant descendant of the monarch. As the second cousin of Queen Anne, Elector George of Hanover was the next in line and ascended the throne as the first monarch from the House of Hanover.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 2020 British Queens Beast White Horse 1 oz Gold Coin is a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief with the George IV State Diadem Crown. Designed in 2015 by Jody Clark, this is the fifth-generation portrait of the Queen.
Reverse
The reverse face of the 2020 British Queens Beast White Horse 1 oz Gold Coins includes the White Horse of Hanover standing on its hind legs behind the Royal Arms of King George I. The shield in George Is Royal Arms is quartered with the Three Lions and Lion of Scotland in the first quadrant, the French fleur de lis in the second, the Harp of Ireland in the third, and the Arms of Hanover in the fourth. The Arms of Hanover includes the White Horse in the bottom portion.
History
The Royal Arms of King George I was used without change from 1714 to 1801. King George I and King George II carried this version of the arms through the entirety of their respective reigns. From 1760 to 1801, King George III also used this version of the arms. In 1801, he removed the Arms of Hanover from the fourth quadrant, replacing it there with a second Three Lions and dropping the British claim to the French throne in place of the Lion of Scotland in its own quadrant. George III moved the Arms of Hanover to the center in inescutcheon with an electoral bonnet. Following victory in the Napoleonic Wars, Hanover rose to the status of a kingdom and the arms changed slightly to include a crown, not a bonnet.
