The obverse of the 2020 British Royal Arms 1 oz Silver Coin features the latest effigy of Queen Elizabeth II to feature on British denominations. This portrait was created by Jody Clark in 2015 and features the Queen in right-profile relief. She is aged 89 years in this design and wears the George IV State Diadem Crown. King George IV commissioned this crown in the first year of his reign in 1820 and it contains 1,333 diamonds.

Reverse

On the reverse face of 2020 British Royal Arms Silver Coins is the modern Royal Arms of England. Supported on one side by the Lion of England and on the other by the Unicorn of Scotland, the Royal Arms features a quartered shield at the heart of its design. The shield has the Three Lions of England adopted by Richard I in 1198 in the first and fourth quadrants. The Lion of Scotland, that dates to the 12^th century, features in the second quadrant. The Harp of Ireland is in the third quadrant representing Northern Ireland.

History

The Royal Arms of England features the coat of arms for the individual nations that make up the United Kingdom. You will notice there is no seal of Wales as that country was annexed and incorporated into the Kingdom of England. As such, it is not recognized as a separate nation within the Kingdom of England.
