Bald eagles are commonly found along the Pacific coast of British Columbia, where salmon runs support their diet. These birds of prey often nest in tall evergreen trees like Douglas firs and red cedars that grow near the rugged shoreline. Their strong connection to Canadas natural environment makes them a frequent subject of Canadian bullion designs. Provident Metals now offers the 2020 Canadian Bald Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin.
Highlights:
Each 2020 Canadian Bald Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin ships in protective plastic. These smaller gold coins include a custom reverse design and an obverse portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The background of the obverse also includes fine radial lines.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2020 Canadian Bald Eagle Gold Coin, youll find a right-facing image of Queen Elizabeth II. This portrait was created in 2004 by artist Susanna Blunt and was the final official effigy of the Queen to appear on Canadian coins during her reign. The inscriptions read ELIZABETH II, D.G. REGINA, and 5 DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2020 Bald Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin features a bald eagle flying low above the water. Its wings are extended forward, and its talons are stretched downward. In the background, a forested shoreline adds a natural element to the design. Inscriptions here read CANADA, 2020, FINE GOLD, and 1/10 OZ OR PUR.
History
Bald eagles in Canada are not limited to the Pacific coast. Many also live in the boreal forests of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, as well as around lakes and rivers in Ontario and Quebec. In colder months, they often move to southern areas with open water to find food.
