Reverse

On the reverse side of the 2020 Fiery Furnace Biblical Series 2 oz Silver Coin, the design field includes a depiction of the three Hebrew men in the furnace. As punishment for not bowing down to Nebuchadnezzar II as a god, the men were thrown into a fiery furnace. However, their faith in the one true God was rewarded as an angel appeared to protect them from the heat of the flames and the billowing smoke. Nebuchadnezzar himself is said to have looked down and seen not three men, but four, describing that fourth as being like a son of God. Inscriptions on this side include The Fiery Furnace.

History

King of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar II believed he was a god himself. He had set up an idol for those in his court to either bow down and worship, or stand and be thrown in the furnace. The three Hebrew men stood by their faith and were cast into the furnace, only to be protected from harm by God.
