Modified by John Mercanti in 1986 for this coin release, the design includes the traditional symbols of the bald eagle, US national shield, arrows of war, and olive branch of peace. Mercantis design is unique in the use of a tight, triangular cluster of 13 stars above the eagles head. Inscriptions on this side read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and 1 oz. Fine Silver One Dollar.

History
