Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse side of 2020 Republic of Ghana African Leopard Silver Coins. The design shown here was created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley for the Royal Mint of England. The fourth-generation British coin design, it captures the Queen with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara on her head. In the background field is a design of the rosettes from a leopards fur. The inscriptions on this face of the coin read Elizabeth II, 2020, Five Cedis, and Republic of Ghana.
Reverse
An African leopard is depicted in the reverse field of 2020 Republic of Ghana African Leopard 1 oz Silver Coins. The coins have a new design this year that depicts the leopard feasting on its latest kill with flesh gone from the ribcage of the creature. Its mouth is open to send a warning to those lingering nearby that might try to interfere with its meal. Inscriptions on this side of the coin include African Leopard, 2020, and 1 Ounce 999 Silver.
History
The African Leopard Series debuted in 2017. The coins have had limited mintages each year since the 2017 debut, with each previous issue selling out at the mint. The 2020 coin has the lowest mintage to date with just 10,000 coins in total.
