The Reverse Proof 400th Anniversary of the Mayflower Gold Coin was one of three such specimens from the United States Mint in 2020 sharing the same design. The two gold coins and one silver medal were issued to mark the 400th anniversary of the 1620 voyage of the Mayflower across the Atlantic Ocean from Great Britain to what is now the state of Massachusetts in the United States. Provident Metals now has perfect-condition 2020 Reverse Proof American 400th Anniversary of the Mayflower 1/4 oz Gold Coins available to purchase online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
When you purchase one of these 2020 Reverse Proof American 400th Anniversary of the Mayflower 1/4 oz Gold Coins from Provident Metals, you will receive a coin that is in perfect condition. The NGC issues the PF70 grade to coins that showcase full, original mint luster and have no detracting flaws of any kind present. The coins in this listing are reverse proofs from the US Mint. Reverse-proof coins have mirrored designs and frosted fields, a flip of the traditional frosted designs and mirrored fields. The First Release designation included with these coins means each one was received for grading at the NGC within 30 days of the US Mints release.
Obverse
A Wampanoag family is shown in the obverse design of 2020 Reverse Proof American Mayflower 1/4 oz Gold coins. The image shows a father, mother, and child seated near the shore looking out at the Mayflower as it sits anchored in the waters off Cape Cod. The inscriptions on this side include E Pluribus Unum, Patuxet, and $10.
Reverse
Two Pilgrims are depicted on the reverse of 2020 American 400th Anniversary of the Mayflower Gold Coins. The Pilgrims who ventured across the Atlantic Ocean aboard the Mayflower were largely escaping religious persecution in England. The hope was to establish a colony that would enjoy a measure of freedom and independence from direct English control, with the freedom to practice their religion at the top of the list of priorities. Inscriptions on this side of the coin read 1620 Plymouth 2020, In God We Trust, United States of America, Au 24K 1/4 oz., and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.
History
The 2020 Reverse Proof 400th Anniversary of the Mayflower 1/4 oz Gold Coin was one of three options from the United States Mint honoring the anniversary of the ships crossing of the Atlantic Ocean. The US Mint issued a dual-release set with the Royal Mint that included a British design in a 1/4 oz gold coin set and a silver medal set.
