An African bush elephant is depicted on the obverse side of 2020 South African Big Five Elephant 1 oz Platinum Coins. Here, the large animal stands facing the coins viewer with its trunk extending down beyond the edge of the design field and its tusks reaching to the very edge of the field. Reverse

In this design, the two creatures stand so close together side-by-side that it appears the ear in the middle of the design is shared by the two.
