Obverse
The obverse face of the 2020-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coin includes a depiction of Lady Liberty with a young girl. Reflective of the Pursuit of Happiness, this design depicts Liberty with the harvest of her fields as a young girl playfully chases a butterfly nearby. There is an inscription of Happiness on this field of the coin that is written in the same script it would have been written on the Declaration of Independence.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2020 Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coin, you will find a design with the American bald eagle in flight. The bald eagle is shown with its wings spread out wide as its talons clutch an olive branch.
History
Proof American Eagle Platinum Coins have been produced by the US Mint in a 1 oz weight every year since the 1997 introduction of the program, making this coin the only one issued each year since that time. The Preamble to the Declaration of Independence Series is a three-coin release with new obverse images of Liberty used in each year. This marks the first time in the programs history the US Mint has replaced John Mercantis Statue of Liberty design. The common reverse is shared through this three-coin series only.
